TN-16XE

The TN-16XE is an SDH multiplexer which has two STM-16o transport aggregates and meets ETSI standards. It supports a variety of configurations including linear (protected and unprotected), add-drop multiplexer in a linear chain, ring and regenerator configurations. The platform has the ability to map and transport VC12, VC3, and VC4 containers. The tributaries depend on the release of the platform. Line side protection is currently provided by SNC-P protocol for all configurations. Tributary equipment protection is dependent upon the release level of the TN-16XE.

The TN-16XE is managed directly from the TN-MS EC-1 Element Controller. The EC-1 operates on a Hewlett Packard workstation and falls under the Element Manager Layer on the network management hierarchy. The system has a Graphical User Interface, and handles functions like configuration and connection management, alarm monitoring, security management and logging reports. The EC-1 can control up to 128 TN-16XE node
