Tape & HDD replacement
Tape & HDD replacement
Using the PV Flash disk and tape products in telco Switching and transport applications
TELCO - Telecom Hardware with partner have developed a Solid Disk drive, magneto Optic (MO)
and tape drive with emulation capability aimed at ageing drives in legacy telco Systems.
This is a SCSI tape or SCSI disk drive with no moving parts in 1 3.5 inch from factor.
It can be configured with either a SCSI or Pertec Interface for a connection to:
• Siemens EWSD (MTD)- HP88781AA SCSI or HP Pertec drives depending on the age of the EWSD rack.Duplex disks MD0 & MD1
duplex disk drives –can be replaced with SCSICFdisks. Also the HP2940A for EWSD Switching V.9
• Fujitsu Fetex 150- Fujitsu SCSI drive emulation
• NEC NEAX 61E and Sigma – FlashTape emulating a SCSI DAT and other drives.
• ERICSSON AXE10 SCSI drives
• TELEBRAS TROPICO SCSI tape drives
• NORTEL DMS10 SCSI disk & tape emulation
• STROMBERG-CARLESON DCO – FlashTape emulating a Sony SDT-
11000 SCSI DAT drive.
• NTT - SCSI disk & tape emulation.

Data is stored on an industry standard Compact Flash (CF) card, which can be easily removed, and treated as a replacement for the tape cartridge.
The CF data then copied to a Windows PC for backup purposes.
SCSI 2 transfer rates are (up to) 10 Mbytes/sec, and disk capacities only limited by current CF cards (up to 32 GB as of 2008)
